You can expect monster yields of old school funk from this three-way hybrid. Created for maximum production and resilience, Big Bud guarantees huge harvests every time, meaning she is the best for cash croppers who need short flowering times and commercial-scale harvests.
Growing
Big Bud was created after crossing three old school strains Afghani, Skunk and Old School Big Bud. This strain carried forward all the most desirable traits from her parents, meaning she is highly resilient to cold and hot climates, flowering in less than 9 weeks and is unbelievably productive.
Indoor
When grown indoors, Big Bud can grow quickly during the vegetative stage, making her a brilliant plant for training techniques. Thanks to her Skunk genetics, she will grow with fairly long internodal spacing, allowing for an open structure that lets plenty of light and air around the plants.
She can also take large amounts of organic and hydroponic nutrients, and in return will grow fist-sized buds, oozing resin finishing at an average height of 120-150 cm (47-59 inches).
Outdoor
Bug Bud Feminized can get enormous outdoors and will require support once flowering starts. Her growth structure will be one main central cola surrounded by long side branches. The internodes become packed with bright-green buds that fill the plants out completely.
We advise planting in Spring for the biggest yields with the goal to harvests at the end of October, depending on the climate where you live. Some plants can grow as tall as 180 cm (71 inches) and can be easily controlled with topping or tying down before flowering.
Fungal resistance
A solid performer and will perform well in colder and hot climates. She can withstand high temperatures, and will not suffer from mold late into flowering. Big Bud can also withstand heavy winds, making her a great cultivar for mountainous regions and high altitudes.
Flowering time
Indoor
Expect plants to be mature and ready to harvest after 56-63 days of flowering, depending on the phenotype. Very productive plants may require 65 days, making Big Bud an excellent strain for growers who want a big return on their investment.
Outdoor
Big Bud will typically finish outdoors in 56-65 days, with the biggest yielding plants demanding more time. It is advised to plant this cultivar in a large-sized container, such as 50-100 liters (11-22 gallon) fabric pot.
Yield
Indoor
Indoors, she can yield up to 600 g/m² (2 oz per square foot), which makes Big Bud one of the most lucrative strains available. When grown in a Sea of Green using smaller-sized pots, it can be extremely rewarding and ensure a very fast turnaround time.
Outdoor
Outdoors she is capable of yielding enormous amounts of 1000 grams+ (35.5 oz) per plant and will not suffer with mold thanks to her environmental resistance.
Plant height & structure
She will display her blend of indica and sativa genetics by growing plants that reveal both traits. Big Bud will have a tendency to grow quickly and with an open structure and many side branches. When flowered indoors, she will stretch to a final height of 150 cm (59 inches).
Training
We recommend Big Bud as a great entry-level strain for growers who want to practice their plant training skills and be more hands on. A straightforward to grow and forgiving strain, that works wonderfully when topped, tied down, pruned, super cropped and especially when given the time to grow through a screen and vegetated for a long period of time.
Smell, taste and effect
Big Bud has a vintage flavor that will take some old school growers back. A mix of earthy, sweet with a floral funk background that will have you licking your lips after every toke of a joint.
Her aroma when flowering will be more floral than pungent, so is a great choice for growers who require low-profile varieties. Flowering time will range from 8-9 weeks depending on phenotype, making Big Bud a fast flowering beast that has THC levels of 17%.
We do recommend using an airtight jar for keeping the dried flowers inside, due to her dank and skunky lingering terpenes.
The effects of Big Bud are very relaxing, dreamy, and pleasant thanks to her 17% THC level. This strain is a potent cultivar, so is well recommended for relaxing and evening times. Her effects can be sleepy with a mild body effect, meaning Big Bud is well suited for smokers looking for a calming, balanced effect that can be enjoyed after a long day at work or before a deep sleep.
